Speeding FAQs
What is considered speeding?
Speeding occurs when you drive significantly faster than the typical speed of traffic on a given road. Roadclub measures your speed relative to the flow of traffic to assess safe driving behavior.
Why is speeding dangerous?
Speeding increases the risk of accidents and reduces your ability to react to unexpected situations. It also leads to more severe collisions due to higher impact forces.
How does Roadclub detect speeding?
Roadclub uses your phone's GPS and motion sensors to monitor your speed and compares it to the typical speeds on the roads you travel.
How can I reduce speeding?
To minimize speeding:
Stay aware: Regularly check your speedometer and be mindful of your speed.
Plan ahead: Allow extra travel time to avoid the temptation to speed.
Use cruise control: On highways, cruise control can help maintain a consistent, safe speed.
What if I need to speed to keep up with traffic?
Roadclub accounts for the flow of traffic. Driving at a speed consistent with other vehicles is generally considered safe. However, avoid excessive speeding beyond the typical traffic flow.
Can speeding events impact my driving score?
Yes, frequent speeding can lower your driving score in the Roadclub app. By reducing speeding events, you can improve your score and increase your chances of earning rewards.
Does Roadclub consider unexpected events like emergencies?
The app focuses on overall patterns rather than isolated incidents. Occasional speeding due to unavoidable circumstances is less likely to significantly affect your score if you consistently practice safe driving habits.
Why does Roadclub measure speeding?
Speeding is a key indicator of risky driving behavior. By tracking and reducing speeding events, Roadclub helps improve your safety on the road and promotes safer driving habits.
Can the app detect whether I’m the driver or a passenger?
Yes, Roadclub uses motion data and contextual signals to determine if you’re the driver or a passenger during a trip, ensuring accurate data.
